Data Analyst Intern

Working at Merit Solutions, a cybersecurity and IT Help Desk company provided me with a platform to develop and refine my technical and analytical skills in a way that I was previously inexperienced in. One of my key projects involved developing algorithms designed to address misfiring and interruptions in data storage and reporting processes. By focusing on enhancing overall data integrity, I contributed to a more reliable and efficient system, which supported smoother operational workflows and more accurate data analysis. This experience sharpened my problem-solving skills and taught me how to implement practical solutions that have an immediate impact on system performance.

Beyond algorithm development, I was responsible for communicating complex technical findings through comprehensive reports and summaries on firewall activity. Through detailed analysis and monitoring, I identified potential vulnerabilities in our security infrastructure and proposed strategic solutions to address them. Working with Microsoft SQL, I developed efficient queries and procedures to streamline our data management processes, while maintaining robust security measures. This role required a strategic approach to ensure that system improvements enhanced both functionality and security.

Looking back, my time at Merit Solutions provided me with a strong foundation in technical problem-solving and system optimization. The opportunity to work with enterprise-level security systems and databases not only enhanced my technical skills but the lessons I took away taught me the art of strategic thinking. Every line of code, every security protocol, and every system configuration contributes to the company's broader mission of maintaining and providing seamless technological services. I gained an understanding in the holistic impact of technology—how intelligent design and meticulous attention to detail can transform potential vulnerabilities into strengths.
