Game Master

Working at an escape room was an experience that blended mix creativity, technical skills, and a deep dive into human psychology. I had the opportunity to learn not only how the games operated from a mechanical and theatrical perspective but also the intricate psychological elements that make each room so engaging. From the process of designing puzzles that strike the right balance between challenging and solvable to understanding how lighting, sound, and props influence the players' emotional states, it was all about creating an immersive experience and I gained insights into the art of immersion.

On the technical side, I became familiar with setting up and troubleshooting various electronic and mechanical components that powered the games. This included programming sensors, managing control panels, and ensuring that every prop or mechanism functioned seamlessly during gameplay. I also collaborated on potential new puzzles that required creative use of technology, such as RFID readers, magnet-triggered locks, and timed challenges that added layers of complexity to the experience. Maintaining the technical systems required problem-solving under pressure, as even minor malfunctions could disrupt the flow of the game.

Beyond the technical setup, I got to see how different themes and stories clicked with players and how teams worked together (or didn’t) under pressure. It was super interesting to watch groups figure things out, communicate, and sometimes totally lose it—but still have fun. This job really showed me how to create spaces that feel exciting and natural, where players leave feeling like they’ve conquered something cool.
